The restful weekend (HAHAHAHA)

This weekend was a full one (not quite the relaxing few days I was hoping for). Saturday I went over to Christy’s house and then we went to the Friends of the Library Book sale in downtown Gainesville. I found 9 decorating books and two crafting books on rug making. I got all eleven for $17.25, which was almost exactly what I had in cash on me. The place was packed, which made me a little anxious but well worth it for the deals! We went to Zaxby’s afterwards and then back to Christy’s house. I showed her the pics of the house I’m interested in- she mirrors most everyone else’s sentiments- that house COULD be wonderful but will take a ton of work. The house buying is moving along- pre-inspection is on Thursday and will let me know if there is any structural damage (which means I can’t get it if the IS). I’m trying to balance the overwhelmingly positive and enthusiastic friend with the overwhelmingly negative and doubtful friend. So far, the optimistic one is winning (which is strange for ME).
Sunday was going to be a nice relaxing day- I slept in until about 8 am, had a bowl of cereal, read the paper… and then decided to paint the back porch stairs red to match the front porch. Two hours later I had some lunch and Chris managed to trick me into a nap!  Once I woke up though, I decided to push ahead and rip the rotting wood and shingles off the back porch roof. Despite the constant reminders to “be careful” and to “watch out” from Chris, I managed to get all the nasty shingles off and part of the rotting wood. My arms and legs are exceedingly sore this morning!
The plan may be to pull down the roof all together and make an open deck- that way we can put the grill on the porch and possibly either a covered swing or porch set with an umbrella. It’s so cramped with the roof on so this is probably going to be the next step of the project…

Worn O U T

I am absolutely worn out and beat today! Uggg… I can’t say last night’s fun wasn’t WORTH it though! I got a last minute invite to a dinner meeting with a couple of the people from the new paper I’ve been working with (as a designer- YAYYYYYYYY). One of the people happens to be Michelle- so it was a blast!

I had already eaten so it was more of a liquid second dinner but we hammered out some more stuff about the paper (The Foggy Bottom- a local event finder for our area) and had a generally good time. We chilled for a bit and unfortunately for me sleeping over in High Springs was just not a good idea… I scored maybe 90 minutes worth of sleep. I have a hard time sleeping anywhere new/different (kills me at hotels) and I am sooooo dragging @$$ this morning because of it.

And I’m sore to boot…

Full of energy and a new BLOG

So I am finally over (I hope) being sick and I now suddenly have huge surges of energy! One such surge has prompted me to start a new blog based on Etsy (handmade eBay) and a random word generator… each morning I can, I am searching using the random keyword on Etsy and then picking the coolest, weirdest, most unique item I can and posting it with a few comments.

http://keywordcrafts.blogspot.com/

It’s new and hopefully I can keep it up- better than this blog… I’m almost done with my taxes (yay) and I have finished my internal inventory of my photography and other items which will help in getting me to post a bunch more on Etsy. It’s all the prep work that drags me down- I know I need to throw a copyright ghost image over each item so I don’t find out later it’s been ripped off. But it’s just keeping the motivation to do that on EVERY item that drags me down. Hopefully I’ll get into a flow and get some more items posted- they’re just sitting around taking up space otherwise!

Wow have I been lazy with the updates...

It’s already the middle of February so I suppose I’ve been VERY lazy with the updates!

December was fine- my art show went okay, with me selling two out of three of my larger original fiber pieces (but not much else). My birthday was uneventful and probably involved me drinking a lot at Red Lobster but my recollection seems a little hazy... Christmas was fun since Grampy flew in from Wales and spent about a week with us.

January started with spending a few days at the beach with Grampy, Dad, Chris and Alex. It was actually quite good- nice and warm in fact so I squeezed in some tanning time. Then back to work as usual. Except work is crazy with possible future cuts so no stress or ANYTHING like that.

February began with the insane idea to actually buy the house I’ve been whining about wanting (for four or so years). We looked at a cute house that was too small, another one that would have been nice but was already under contract, and now we’re holding out for a really nice place with lots of studio space (converted garage). Fingers crossed and all that stuff!
